Lab:time - Jilted Pig
"The creation of a new show that uses circus to tell our story. The story is a comedy murder mystery set in a fishing village in which two performers, Alice Ellerby and Becky Illsley, play multiple characters, continually swapping between roles, exploring confusion, disguise and reality. The show will have a gripping narrative, parodying Agatha Christie style ‘cosy mysteries’, and will seamlessly interweave clowning, storytelling and circus. Think Hot Fuzz meets Ockham’s Razor. Their aim is to use the set and equipment to create strong visual images of the fishing village and the events within the story.
“We are currently working on making an hour long show from the idea that we explored at Lab:time. Having secured Arts Council funding, we have been able to spend a further four weeks devising the show. The material we created at Lab:time will strongly inform the whole piece, and the equipment we were able to buy with Lab:time funding will be the equipment on which the show is performed. Our time in the Creation Studio and the funding we received was an incredibly helpful leg-up to making the show we’ve wanted to make for a long time.”
The current round of applications for Lab:time funding is open until 12 July.
